Which food is the most popular?

Despite their diversity, Americans share a taste for fried chicken and pie. YouGov found that the most popular dish in the United States is fried chicken nuggets. However, chicken nuggets have recently fallen out of favor, with just 2,3 billion consumed in restaurants in 2018. Thus, you can create your own if you choose, especially if you live outside the United States and want to try producing one of America's most famous delicacies at home. And the majority of these dishes are relatively simple to prepare.

For example, hot dog is a famous American food. The hot dog was initially a sausage sandwich served in a bun. A century ago, the term "hot, hot" was commonly used to promote them, and they quickly became one of the most popular dinners in America. The phrase "hot dog" originates from the German word meaning dog.

Some Americans dislike spicy dishes, while others find them comfortable. For instance, Nashville hot chicken has a fiery backstory. In the 1800s, a scorned lover served Prince a cayenne pepper-laced phrase. Prince enjoyed it so much that he decided to create a Nashville hot chicken restaurant.

Additionally, biscuits and gravy are popular southern dishes. They can be found in nearly every breakfast business. Cornbread is another mainstay of southern American cuisine. This can be either sweet or savory and can be served alongside veggies.

Early in the twentieth century, South American peanuts were transported to Europe and central Asian nations. John Harvey Kellogg invented a method for creating peanut paste with salt during this period. This approach has been considered the forerunner to peanut butter for quite some time. Julia Davis Chandler published the original peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipe in 1901. This traditional meal remains popular today. Consider using peanut butter to create a unique and delicious dish.

This list is not exhaustive and contains some subjectivity. For instance, "popular" is somewhat subjective, yet empirical facts support it. I compiled the data from other quoted sources and other lists, but based on this one, I tend to concur. I will also provide links to recipes for each item on the list.

Roast lunch, the iconic British meal, was typically a family meal. The introductory course was roasted pork. Typically, the sides consisted of mashed turnips and sliced potatoes. It was commonly served with custard or vanilla ice cream during the winter. Other common ingredients in crumbles include rolled oats, ground almonds, and nuts. As I age, my fascination with food data increases. In addition, I enjoy learning about the popularity of foods in the United States and the rest of the world.
